Perryville High School Cancels Summer Activities for Two Weeks Due to COVID-19 Outbreak in Perry County

(Perryville, Mo.) Perryville High School announced last week that they are canceling their athletics and band practices from July 6th through July 17th due to a recent outbreak of COVID-19 in Perry County.

Perryville Athletic Director Justin Dreyer says the rising numbers led them to the decision.

Even with many people anxious to return to “normal”, Dreyer says the Perryville community was supportive of the move to shut down.

When Perryville High School reevaluates returning to summer activities on July 16th, Dreyer says they will need to see those positive cases receding, and regardless, they will need to follow strict guidelines if they do return.

As of Tuesday, Perry County had 163 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with one death.
