(Jefferson County) The first shipment of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine has arrived at Mercy Hospital Jefferson.

Mercy Hospital spokesman Joe Poelker said the vaccine arrived on Tuesday.

According to Poelker the initial shipment of the vaccine is in small supply; however, shipment sizes are expected to increase in the coming weeks and months.

As of right now Mercy Jefferson does not have a time or date on when the Pfizer vaccine will be readily available to members of the general public.

The hospital asks members of the community to be patient and they will administer the vaccine as soon as possible following state guidelines.
