Potosi Cross Country Teams Carrying Over Last Season’s Success

(Potosi) The Potosi cross country teams have followed up a strong 2021 season with stellar results this fall. Both the boys and girls teams finished in 1st place at the St. Vincent meet at the end of August and the Trojans went to Memphis, Tennessee to face teams from multiple states at the Twilight Classic.

Cross country head coach Amanda Politte tells us about the experience of racing out-of-state.

Just seven runners make up the girls team but the quality outshines the quantity.

The Trojans are led by seniors Celeste Sancegraw and Kaydence Gibson, juniors Alyson Skiles, Carlee Moss and Allie Heeter and sophomores Allison Land and Ava Wright. Sancegraw finished 14th out of 334 runners in Memphis while the girls team was 13th out of 39 teams.

The boys roster is bigger and full of top-level runners. Ezekiel Sisk has stood atop the group with a 1st place finish at the St. Vincent Meet and a strong showing in Memphis finishing 64th out of 405 runners.

Potosi will be at the Arcadia Valley Meet Saturday morning. The Trojans have another road trip on the schedule at the Missouri Southern Stampede on September 17th.
