(PERRYVILLE) The Potosi Trojans held down the Perryville Pirates en route to a 17-14 victory in the Class 3 District 1 Quarterfinal game on J98. The game began with the Potosi Trojans striking from long range on an Ethan Brown touchdown run.

Late in a first half where the Pirates offense would struggle to string together a drive, the defense would come up with their first touchdown after a punt pinned the Trojans deep in their own territory.

7-7 the score would sit the score at the break, in the second half the Trojans Zach Haynes would split the uprights to regain the Trojans lead by a margain of 10-7. Late in the final frame the Trojans would turn to senior running back Ethan Brown and Brown showed the Trojans what he can do.

The Perryville Pirates would get a late score but would fail to recover the onside kick and the Trojans kneeled out the clock to seal the 17-14 win. After the game head coach of the Trojans Ed Haar praised his team’s blocking up front.

The Pirates fall to 4-6 and the Trojans jump to an even 5-5 and will play #1 Kennett on the road in the district semifinal round.
