Potosi Woman Injured & Charged with Felony after Two Car Crash in St. Francois County
(Silver Springs) A woman from Potosi was taken to a hospital with injuries and also charged with a felony after being involved in a two car accident early Sunday morning in St. Francois County.
The crash happened just after midnight on Highway 67, just south of Shannon Road outside of Valles Mines and on the northern edge of the boundaries of St. Francois State Park.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 35-year-old Sheena Becker of Potosi was inattentive to the roadway and she failed to keep her Ford Escort within the left lane.
The front right quarter panel of the Escort struck the rear left quarter panel of a Mini Cooper driven by 30-year-old Brittany McCloy of Park Hills.
Both cars then began skidding and ran off the right side of the road.
The Mini Cooper skidded to a stop but Becker’s Escort struck an embankment and overturned.
McCloy was not injured but Becker, who was not wearing a seat belt, received moderate injuries.
During the crash investigation, troopers allegedly found Becker in possession of fentanyl.
She was first taken to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City to treat her crash injuries.
She was later charged with possession of a controlled substance.
