Potosi’s Whitaker Qualifies For Sectionals, Earns Athlete Of The Week Award

(POTOSI, Mo.) – After capturing the individual district championship this past weekend, Michelle Whitaker of the Potosi Trojans girls tennis team is the latest Parkland Health Mart Pharmacy “Play It Forward” Athlete of the Week. Her efforts in the tournament earned her a spot in the sectionals at Forest Park Wednesday, where she will be a single win away from qualifying for the state tournament. Potosi coach Danny Mueller said she has shown a lot of focus.
Mueller said even though Whitaker is just a sophomore, she has become a reliable lead singles player.
As the Athlete of the Week, Whitaker will receive a t-shirt, a certificate and the chance to pick a local charity that will receive a $25 donation from Parkland Health Mart Pharmacy.
