Red Flag Warning in Effect Wednesday Afternoon for Jefferson, Washington, Franklin and Crawford Counties

(Jefferson County) The National Weather Service in St. Louis has issued a Red Flag Warning for portions of Central and Eastern Missouri from 1-6pm on Wednesday.

Forecasters say wind speeds of 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph this afternoon combined with low relative humidity levels will be conducive for the rapid spread and growth of uncontrolled brush and wildfires.

According to the National Weather Service, A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are or will be occurring.

A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and dry fuels can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

Again, Red Flag Warning in effect for Jefferson, Washington, Franklin and Crawford Counties from 1 until 6pm Wednesday.
