(De Soto) A early morning residential fire in De Soto left one man injured and a house with a substantial amount of smoke and fire damage.

Firefighters in De Soto received the call just before 4:30 in the morning on January 7th.

Chief James Maupin describes the scene once fire crews arrived at the home in the 500 block of Allen Place.

There was a pet inside the home at the time of the fire but it was able to make it out with assistance from one of the occupants.

Fire crews were able to get the fire extinguished and were eventually cleared from the scene just after 8 that morning.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated by the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office.
