(IMPERIAL) The next time Windsor wrestler Ryan Yarnell steps on the mat, he’ll be wearing a red and white SIUE Cougars uniform.

Yarnell has officially signed with the Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville program under 6th year head coach Jeremy Spates. Yarnell completed a season for the record books in February by winning a state championship in the 182 lb. weight class and going a perfect 53-0.

Due to the historic season, Yarnell was being recruited by dozens of universities including Northwestern, Penn, Brown, McKendree and Westminster College. But ultimately, SIU-Edwardsville was the best fit.

When talking about SIUE’s coach Spates and Windsor’s head coach Kevin Stoffey, Yarnell can’t say enough.

Windsor’s Ryan Yarnell will be joining a program in SIU-Edwardsville that just sent three wrestlers to the NCAA Championships, which will be happening at the end of the week.
