Seckman Wrestling Impresses at the State Tournament in Columbia
(IMPERIAL) The Seckman wrestling team sent nine wrestlers to the state tournament this past weekend and came back with one champion, one second place finisher, a pair of third place medalists and a 4th place finisher.
As a member of the 120-pound weight class and seeking back-to-back Class 4 state titles, junior wrestler Kai Orine impressed head coach Ryan Moyer by claiming that second consecutive gold medal.
For coach Moyer, the greatness that Orine has showed in his first few years of high school extends beyond the wrestling mat.
Senior Cameron Fusco took second place at the state wrestling tournament for the 4th consecutive year, this time as part of the 126-pound weight class. Fusco lost to future Mizzou Tiger teammate Malik Johnson again, who has beaten Cameron each of the past four years in the title match.
With that in mind, coach Moyer feels for Fusco but also knows he’ll do great things at the next level.
Jaguars sophomore Skyler Akers and senior Jack Wrocklage claimed third in the 106-pound and 113-pound weight class, respectively. Junior Jeremy Ashlock finished 4th in the 170-pound weight class. As a team, the Jaguars scored 103.5 points and placed 4th behind teams from Staley, Park Hill and Christian Brothers College.
