South Iron and Eminence Girls Basketball Teams Earn Victories in the Class 1 District 3 Semifinals

(Annapolis, Mo.) The Class 1 District 3 girls basketball semifinals took place tonight with #1 South Iron and #2 Eminence earning victories to advance to the championship coming up on Thursday.

The first game of the night saw the South Iron Panthers trounce the Lesterville Bearcats by a final score of 70-29.

After a closely contested first quarter, the Panthers broke the game wide open in the second thanks to a huge quarter from Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game Hailey Pauley.

Pauley finished the game with 16 points, all of which came in the second quarter.

South Iron head coach Lawrence Graves says he felt they could’ve played a cleaner game defensively but he was happy with the team’s performance overall.

South Iron improves to 22-4 overall while Lesterville finishes the season at 15-11.

In the second game of the evening, the Eminence Redwings held off a late push by the St. Paul Giants to take home the win by a final score of 72-68.

The game was tied 30-30 at the break, but the Redwings were able to give themselves some breathing room in the second half.

Eminence head coach Jim Blackwell says they made adjustments at halftime to play a more physical game.

The Redwings improve to 20-7 on the year while St. Paul finishes the season at 16-11.

The Class 1 District 3 girls basketball championship is now set as South Iron will take on Eminence on Thursday with coverage beginning at 5:45 on J98.
