(ANNAPOLIS, Mo.) – A matchup that went down to the wire a season ago will make its reappearance Thursday evening as the South Iron Panthers girls basketball team hosts the Arcadia Valley Tigers on J-98.

It was the Panthers coming out with a road victory a year ago against AV by a final score of 61-59.

This year, South Iron returns just one starter, but its a Dream-Teamer in senior guard Michaela Ayers.

Despite the increase in youth, South Iron has begun the season 4-0. They  won the Valley Tournament last week and defeated previously-unbeaten Ellington on Tuesday.

Panthers head coach Lawrence Graves says it’s been an impressive start.

On the side of Arcadia Valley, they too return a Dream Team player in the form of junior guard Gracee Smith.

The Tigers began their season last week with a second-place finish in the Fredericktown Tournament.

They ended up falling in the championship to Central, setting their overall record at 2-1.

AV has a first-year head coach in Kristen Williams, who actually played for the Tigers from 2011-2015.

She likes what she has with this AV team.

Tune into J-98 on Thursday for coverage of the contest between Arcadia Valley and South Iron.

Pregame begins at 5:45 with tipoff scheduled for 6.
