Spacing out the Crystal City K-Mart building

(Crystal City) The Crystal City K-Mart store closed its doors in 2019, and after some time, it looks like the majority of the empty space will be filled. The first business to take a portion of the space was Harbor Freight Tools as they took on 20-thousand square feet of the space on the south end of the Twin City Mall. After quite a delay due to the pandemic, Five-Below is currently under construction to take on another part of the space. Crystal City City Administrator Jason Eisenbeis says dividing up that large of a building is quite a chore.

Five Below is slated to open in the next month or two. It appears another business in the space to the north of Five Below is being discussed, but nothing has been released on what it might be. Eisenbeis says on the north end Burke’s Outlet and Home Centric give people in the area more options.

Burkes Outlet and Home Centric opened in 2022, filling the space formerly occupied by Goldman’s. On a related note, the Culver’s restaurant across Truman Boulevard is hoping to open in April. The entire Twin City Mall is owned by R.L. Jones Properties.
