St. Louis man arrested arrested after robbery in Arnold

(Arnold) A St. Louis man was arrested north of Arnold after robbing the Ace Hardware store on Jeffco Boulevard on Sunday. According to the press release from the Arnold Police Department, 46-year-old Charles D. Murphy entered Ace Hardware armed with a firearm, demanding money, and stole cash from the cash register. After leaving the store, he forced a woman from her vehicle at gunpoint, stole her car, and fled the scene. He traveled north on I-55 as Arnold Police were in pursuit, and crashed the vehicle near Butler Hill in South St. Louis County. He was taken into custody, and on Monday was charged with one count of Robbery 1st Degree, one count of Vehicle Hijacking, and one count of Felony Resisting Arrest. Murphy is being held in the Jefferson County Jail without bond.
