St. Pius seeks better results with more complete cross country squad

(Festus) The St. Pius Lancers are back to a full cross-country roster after not being in team competition much of last season.

Head coach John Daly says it’s good to see more athletes excited about running.

Seniors Reagan Edwards and Rachel & Michaela Eimer have been consistently strong runners throughout their careers, playing a part in St. Pius finishing third in the state in Class 2 as a team in 2020.

Daly isn’t ready to declare his girls’ team as a championship contender again, but he knows they’ll be a solid bunch.

The boys’ team returns senior Blaise Cheaney and will have plenty of new faces looking to make an impact.

Daly says being a great distance runner starts right now in the dog days of summer.

St. Pius will begin the new cross country season at the end of August.
