St. Vincent Football Wins I-55 Conference Championship 28-21 Over Jefferson
The St. Vincent Indians football team defeated the Jefferson Blue Jays 28-21. It was a back-and forth game throughout. St. Vincent scored first, but the Blue Jays answered quickly.

The score at the halftime was 14-14 as both teams committed turnovers late in the second quarter. The third quarter saw a handful of turnovers and a touchdown from each side. In the fourth quarter, Jefferson quarterback Kole Williams was intercepted by John Schmidt of St. Vincent, who now has six picks on the season. St. Vincent would milk the clock and go up a touchdown on a short carry from running back Cruz Reitzel.

That was Reitzel’s third touchdown of the game. Jefferson’s offense was forced to punt on their next drive, which allowed the Indians to run the clock out.
St. Vincent corner John Schwartz was tasked with covering Nate Breeze the entire night, and his efforts earned him the Applebee’s of Farmington player of the game award. Indians head coach Tim Schumer praised him after the game.

Jefferson head coach Matt Atley shares the positive takeaways from the matchup.

The Blue Jays drop to 7-2 on the year after a seven win streak to open the year. St. Vincent improves to 6-3 and will have a bye for the first round of the playoffs.
