(PERRYVILLE, Mo.) – The St. Vincent Indians golf team put together an impressive showing at the sectional tournament in Springfield, taking first place and advancing to next week’s Class 1 state tournament. The team shot a team score of 355, which was 19 strokes better than the second place team, Bloomfield. Indians coach Tom Prost said they rebounded after struggling in the district tournament.

Prost said five players will be taking part in the state tournament.

As far as goals for next week, Prost said the team wants to finish in the top four.

St. Vincent has won two state titles in boys golf and earned 10 top four finishes since 1993. The Class 1 golf tournament will take place in Sedalia on Monday and Tuesday.
