State Champion Conner Diaz Is A Track & Field Dream Teamer

(Steelville) Conner Diaz may go down as one of the best athletes to come out of Steelville High School. Already a state champion in cross country back in the fall, Diaz won two state championships in the 1600 and 800 meter runs. For that, the area coaches voted Diaz onto the Boys Track & Field Dream Team. He was also a Dream Teamer for cross country, so he wasn’t as shocked to hear his name this time around, but he was still very excited.

Diaz was also the anchor for the state runner-up in the 4×400 relay in Class Two. Diaz tells us what goes through his mind when he’s competing.

His personal record in the 800 meter run is 1:57.95 and he’s run the 1600 meter in 4:20.56. Diaz takes us through his state championship runs.

Diaz holds the school and conference records in the 800, 1600 and 4×400 relay and has the Steelville High School record in the 3200. He tells us what his training regimen is like.

Diaz wanted to give some thanks.

Diaz will continue to run at Columbia College. He has six all-state marks.
