(STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo.) – An exciting Class 4 District 2 championship baseball game at Yanks Field saw the Ste. Genevieve Dragons pull out an eight-inning victory over the North County Raiders by a final score of 7-6. The lead changed hands four times during the first six innings in the back-and-forth thriller. Trailing by one in the bottom of the 7th inning, Ste. Gen’s Brady Boyer stood on second base with one out. Then, a deep fly ball and a throwing mishap tied the game.

That play sent the game into extra innings. In the eighth, Brady Boyer came up again with runners at first and second base and delivered the knockout punch.

Boyer was the Applebee’s Player of the Game, going 3-for-5 on the night. Dragons coach Mike McDaniel says he’s proud of how his players kept up their energy throughout the game.

Ste. Genevieve improved to 22-4 with the win and earned its third district title in school history. North County finished 2019 with a 15-10-1 record. The Dragons will now travel to Sikeston to take on the Bulldogs in the Class 4 sectionals on Tuesday with coverage on AM-800 KREI.
