Veterans Groups Say Bill in Missouri Legislature Will Not Help Them

(Centerville) Veterans groups in Missouri will not be backing a couple particular bills in the Missouri Legislature this year.

Randy Tollivar is the quartermaster with Reynolds County V.F.W. Post 6660 in Centerville.

Tollivar says veterans are being used in an attempt to get these two bills passed.

Tollivar says this bill has pretty much nothing to do with Missouri veterans.

Tollivar says the V.F.W. has no problems with gambling in Missouri.

Republican State Senator Denny Hoskins of Warrensburg is the sponsor of Senate Bill 1 and House Bill 699 is sponsored by State Representative Bill Hardwick, a republican from Waynesville.

The House bill has been read a first and second time but the legislation is currently not on the House calendar for further advancement.

The Senate bill has also been read a first and second time and has now been referred to the Senate Appropriations Committee.

That committee has yet to take up the bill or schedule it for debate.
