(Viburnum) It took around five years but a big tax protest has finally been settled.

Half a decade ago, the Doe Run Company decided to protest their taxes owed to the Viburnum School District and Iron County.
During the protest, those monies could not be used by the school or the county until an agreement had been met.
Viburnum Superintendent Adam Portell is glad it’s finally over.

Iron County C-4 will receive a little more than 1.2 million dollars.
We asked Superintendent Portell if he thought it was a fair solution.

Portell says the Viburnum school should receive that money real soon in a one-time lump-sum payment.
