Washington County Road Gives Way During Heavy Rainfall, Causing Park Hills Man to be Injured in Truck

(Springtown) A heavy pocket of rain caused a road to give out and ended up injuring a man from Park Hills Thursday afternoon in Washington County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the incident took place on Highway 8, just east of Railroad Road, about 5 miles east of Springtown,  when 20-year-old Patrick Diedrich pulled his Ford F-150 off the side of the road because of heavy rainfall.

As he pulled over, the truck began sliding and the roadway gave out.

The truck then overturned down an embankment. Diedrich was moderately injured and was taken to Washington County Memorial Hospital in Potosi.
