Wendel Sworn in as New Festus Police Chief

(FESTUS) With many family members and friends in attendance, Doug Wendel was sworn-in Monday night as the new Festus Police Chief succeeding the retiring Tim Lewis. The ceremony was held during the Festus City Council meeting. Wendel’s rank was Captain prior to his promotion. Wendel, originally from Jackson, MO attended a law enforcement hiring fair 27 years ago at Southeast Missouri State University when he met Lewis who at the time was a Festus Police Captain. Wendel was hired at Festus and the rest is history.
