Wendel to be sworn in as Festus Police Chief

(Festus) Current Festus Police Captain Doug Wendel will be sworn in as the next Police Chief tonight (Monday) at the Festus City Council Meeting. Current Chief Tim Lewis will be officially retiring next week. Chief Lewis says the Festus community will be getting a great leader who is very involved in the area.

Captain Wendel says he’s certainly looking forward to the challenge.

Captain Wendel says when he first came to the area, he didn’t think he would stay in Festus for long.

When Chief Lewis was Captain, he recruited Wendel at a law enforcement hiring fair at Southeast Missouri State 27 years ago. He will be formally sworn in as Chief of Police at the City Council’s regular monthly meeting tonight (Monday) at 6 pm.
