Windsor hosts Hillsboro in state-ranked softball action on KJFF

(Imperial) One of the biggest softball showdowns of the season is the Jefferson County Game of the Week Monday on KJFF.

The Hillsboro Hawks visit the Windsor Owls in a game that likely determines a conference champion.

Both teams are 5-0 in the JCAA and ranked top-ten in the state in Class 4.

Number-six Windsor is 15-5, powered by the pitching of senior Riley Fendler and a deep lineup.

But Owls head coach Wayne Montgomery believes the secret sauce to his team’s success is a mix of experience and runs saved.

Seventh-ranked Hillsboro is 20-5.

Dream Team senior pitcher Elly Eckrich has shut down the opposition with an earned-run average under 1, yet the lineup has shown they can swing the bat thanks to the power of fellow seniors Sara Stokes and Hailey Genge.

Hawks head coach Kevin Lucas says that depth is crucial as they head into the biggest games of the year.

The winner clinches at least a share of the JCAA title with one conference game to play.
