Work Begins On New Mississippi River Bridge

(Perry County) Preliminary drilling began this week for the new bridge that’s going to cross the Mississippi River between Perry County in Missouri and Randolph County in Illinois. Brian Okenfuss is an engineer with the Missouri Department of Transportation and is overseeing the project. He tells us about the purpose of this drilling.

Okenfuss explains what happens after the drilling work is complete.

If all goes well, Okenfuss says the new bridge over the Mississippi should be ready for use in 2026. It’s expected to cost close to 240 million dollars.
