2019 St. Pius Grad Elijah Dale Drafted by Seattle Mariners
(FESTUS)    Former coaches of Elijah Dale at St. Pius High School in Festus are elated the 2019 graduate Elijah Dale has been drafted by the Seattle Mariners.  Dale, a pitcher with Illinois State University was chosen in the 13th round of the Major League Baseball draft as the 397th overall pick.  Dale is a right handed thrower, he stands 5-11 and weighs 175.
St. Pius President Jim Lehn says Dale was a humble student at St. Pius.

Jerry Woods was the head baseball coach at St. Pius when Dale played for the Lancers.  Woods says he primarily played Dale at shortstop and Elijah was eventually recruited by Kansas State University as a middle infielder.

St. Pius Athletic Director Tilden Watson says he remembers Dale’s “tenacity”.

After two seasons at K-State, Dale transferred to Illinois State .
According to a Illinois State news release, Dale notched 65 strikeout this past spring, the second most by an Illinois State Redbird since 2000.  He pitched just over 43 innings and led the pitching staff in appearances with 19.  Elijah Dale has a year of eligibility remaining at Illinois State.
