22 shell found at Hillsboro High School was a mistake made by student

(Hillsboro) A student at Hillsboro High School reported finding a .22 shell floating in a toilet in one of the boys restrooms on Tuesday morning. After the restroom was searched, nothing else of concern was found.

Later the orgin of the .22 shell was discovered. A teacher tip led to the discovery of a student who admitted that he had discovered the shell in his pocket after he arrived at school, and ditched it in the toilet as he knew he shouldn’t have it there. The situation has been thoroughly investigated, and school officials we confident that there was no threat to student safety.
