#4 St. Pius Comes From Two Sets Down To Defeat #5 Windsor In Class 4 District 1 Semifinals On KREI & KJFF

(Farmington) Two of the top teams in the state duked it out in a five-set thriller, but the 4th ranked St. Pius Lancers came out on top to defeat the 5th ranked Windsor Owls to advance to the Class 4 District 1 Championship game.

Windsor broke away in the first set to win, 25-19.

The second set was closer but the Owls pulled away late to seal it, 25-22…

 

With Windsor up two sets to none, St. Pius needed everything and more to come out with a victory. It started by needing to win the third set and the Lancers got a big boost from six-foot-three freshman Bennett Raterman…

 

St. Pius was able to force a fifth set after taking the fourth, 25-23.

St. Pius led most of the fifth set, and was serving for the match up 14-12, but Windsor received a friendly roll to keep the match going…

 

Windsor tied it at 14, but the next two points belonged to St. Pius…

 

Windsor ends their season with a record of 32-2.

Raterman was the Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game. St. Pius coach Shannon Leftridge says she was one of the keys in the comeback.

 

However, Leftridge thinks there’s still room for improvement…

 

The 22-3 St. Pius Lancers will face 7th ranked Farmington in the district championship game Tuesday evening on AM 800 KREI and AM 1400 KJFF starting with a 5:45 Fliegs Equipment Pregame Show.
