(HILLSBORO) The 63rd Annual Gene Steighorst Tournament in Hillsboro tips off Monday on AM 1400 KJFF. The matchups of the night are 4-seed Windsor against 5-seed Festus and 1-seed Hillsboro versus 8-seed Northwest.

The first game is 1-2 Windsor against Festus and Owls head coach Tod Dutton knows the key to a victory is unselfish basketball.

For coach Jason Therrell and the 1-1 Tigers, it comes down to effort, which he says they’re showing a lot of.

The second game of the night involves 0-1 Hillsboro and 0-1 Northwest. As the underdog, Lions head coach Jeremy Moss says playing possession basketball gives them a fighting chance.

Hawks head coach Dan Johnson believes that the loss to Central last Tuesday was a healthy loss because it showed them what they need to do to get better.

Both of Monday’s Gene Steighorst Tournament games will be on AM 1400 KJFF with coverage beginning at 5:15 with the Flieg’s Equipment Pregame Show.
