Allen powers furious Festus rally in win vs Hillsboro on KJFF

(Hillsboro) The Festus Tigers pulled off a late comeback to defeat the Hillsboro Hawks 39-36 Thursday night on KJFF.

The Hawks took the lead in the late stages of a tight first quarter and held on to it for most of the game behind star sophomore forward Dyllan Day.

Day finished with a team-high 13 points.

But the sophomore star of the show was the Tigers’ Josie Allen, who made big play after big play, including the go-ahead bucket with less than 2 minutes left.

Allen scored a game-high 25 points and was the Applebee’s Player of the Game.

Festus head coach Steve McFarland said his team might not be there just yet, but they are starting to show they can be built for big moments.

Festus wins a third straight to improve to 4-5, while Hillsboro loses a fourth straight game to drop to 4-10.

The Tigers will wait a week until they face Perryville, while the Hawks take on Jefferson on Monday.
