Ameren Missouri to Forego Collection of Late & Reconnection Fees during Covid-19 Emergency

(Farmington) The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved a request from Ameren Missouri for a variance from the company’s tariffs which will allow the power company to forego the collection of fees related to late payments and reconnections to help customers deal with the financial hardships felt by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ameren was seeking the variance to ease some of the financial burdens on its customers that reductions in hours worked, job and shift losses, sick leave and other impacts the COVID-19 emergency may cause.

The variance be effective until it becomes evident that the COVID-19 outbreak is waning.

Ameren says they will provide at least a 15-day notice to affected customers before these fees are reinstated.

Ameren provides electric service to about 1.28 million customers in Missouri.
