Bourbon Organization Wins Grant for Tourism Center

(Bourbon) Meramec Regional Community Foundation has awarded the Bourbon Economic Development Group a 750-dollar grant for its Route 66 Business, Education and Tourism Center.

The checks were presented at the M.R.C.F.’s Invite-a-Friend luncheon held last week in St. James at the Meramec Regional Planning Commission.

The Bourbon Economic Development Group was one of two projects selected for funding.

The Bourbon Economic Development Group intends to use these funds to purchase the initial technology needed for their tourism center.

It will include both hardware and software to be utilized for technical assistance for other groups and organizations throughout the community, as well as provide visitors to the center with assistance.

Once the center is complete, the goal is to enhance technical education, develop tourism opportunities and develop multiple streams of business opportunities for the city of Bourbon.

The other recipient was the Hope Alliance of Missouri located in Rolla for its Friday backpack program.
