Boys Basketball Dream Team Player of the Year: Brock Wakefield

(Annapolis, Mo.) The Regional Radio area coaches have spoken and chosen Brock Wakefield as the boys basketball player of the year for the 2019-2020 Winter Sports Dream Team. Wakefield is no stranger to the recognition, as this is his third selection to the team, but he says he doesn’t take it for granted.

Wakefield averaged 21 points and 7 rebounds per contest during his junior year campaign. The junior is known for attacking the basket no matter who stands in front of him and he says it wasn’t a part of his game a season ago.

South Iron’s historic 29-1 season was cut short by the Dora Falcons in the Class 1 Sectionals this year and Wakefield says the goal is to get to Springfield next season.

South Iron returns both Wakefield and fellow Dream Team member Drenin Dinkins to the team next year as well as the boys basketball coach of the year in Dusty Dinkins.
