Central and Potosi Boys Advance in C4D2 Semis

Sean LaRose scored 14 for Affton. Central improves to 24-4 and will see Potosi in the district championship game on Friday. Affton closes the year at 11-16.

In the second semifinal, Potosi held off a late rally from Ste. Genevieve to win the game 56-49. Potosi led 16-5 at the end of the first quarter.

Gabe Brawley and Carter Whitley combined to score 24 points in the first half to give the Trojans a 31-20 lead at the break. The lead jumped to 16 points until Ste. Genevieve embarked on a 21-5 run that went into the fourth quarter to tie the game at 43.

Whitley hit a three-pointer down the stretch and the Trojans went 11-of-13 from the line in the fourth quarter to pull away for the win. Ste. Genevieve went 9-of-19 from the stripe in the game. Potosi coach Jackson Conaway says free throws were the difference…

Whitley scored 25 points while Brawley pumped in 17 before fouling out late in the game. Potosi improves to 20-6 and will face Central in the district championship Friday night. Ste. Genevieve ends their year with a record of 19-8. Kaden Flye put 19 points and 13 rebounds for the Dragons.
