Central Rebels Going To First Football State Championship Game, Hold Off Blair Oaks 48-43 On AM-800 KREI

(Wardsville) The Central Rebel football team held off a fourth-quarter comeback attempt from Blair Oaks to advance to the program’s first state championship. The Rebels took an early lead on a second down pass to Kannan Harlow.

The Rebels would take a three score lead into the half, but the Falcons were able to bounce back. Central was up 48-36 until Blair Oaks scored a touchdown late to make it a one score game.

The Rebels couldn’t close out the game on the ensuing possession, but their defense made a fourth and short stop in the final minute to win the game. Rebels head coach Kory Schweiss shared his thoughts during the final minutes of the game.

The Rebels (10-3) will compete for the Class 3 State Championship Friday morning at 11 o’clock in Columbia. They’ll face the 13-0 Seneca Indians.
