(Park Hills) The Central Rebels are moving on to the Class 3 District 1 title game after taking down Ste. Genevieve 35-0 Friday night.
The Rebel defense forced a punt on the first drive and took over in Ste. Genevieve territory. The two-plus minute drive ended with Central finding the endzone.
Central’s defense gave Ste. Genevieve fits all night. The Rebels forced five turnovers, five tackles for loss and two sacks.
Defense turned into offense, with Jobe Bryant running in touchdowns on the next two drives and then, just like last week, offensive lineman Evan Weiss ran in a touchdown.
Weiss and fellow lineman Triston Stewart were named the Applebee’s of Farmington Players of the Game.
Ste. Gen’s defense stepped up on the following three drives, forcing a punt and two turnover on downs. But the Rebels capitalized off a fumble recovery at the start of the fourth quarter to enact the turbo clock.
The Rebels improve to 10-1 and will face Valle Catholic in the district championship next Friday on J98. It’s a rematch from September 30th when the Warriors beat the Rebels, 40-30, at Father John Dempsey Field.
Central’s Kory Schweiss says the Rebels are looking forward to it.
Ste. Genevieve head coach Jay Pope tells us about the conversation with his team after the loss and what the seniors will take away from their final game.
Ste. Genevieve ends the season with a record of 8-3.
