Central; Ste. Genevieve Girls advance to Class 4 District 2 Championship
(PARK HILLS) The Class 4 District 2 Girls Basketball Tournament Semifinals were played Wednesday night at Central High School. In the first game the one seed Central Lady Rebels defeated the Potosi Lady Trojans 95-36, thanks in part to some fast, flashy plays from Central.

For Central, Taylor O’Connor finished with 22 points, and Allysa O’Connor finished with 24 points. Central head coach Aaron Tyree applauded Allysa’s defensive effort, too.

Potosi’s top scorer was Nora Henry with 15 points. Game 2 was an overtime thriller between 2-seed Perryville and 3-seed Ste. Genevieve. It was a back-and-and forth game throughout, and a big play gave Perryville a 23-20 halftime lead.

Brooklyn Moll would score 24 points for the Pirates, which led all scorers. Ste. Genevieve took the momentum out of halftime, but Perryville continued to answer. With the game knotted at 45 to end regulation, the game would require extra time. Bri Abt helped Ste. Genevieve keep the game close.

Abt would finish with 16 points, including the go-ahead free throw. Ste. Gen would win 58-53 and finish the game on a 7-0 run. Dragons head coach Jordanna Walk-Robinson tells us how her team pulled the upset.

Ste. Genevieve will play Central Friday night for the Class 4 District 2 Championship.
