Children’s Covid-19 vaccine timeline will make it tough

(Hillsboro) Now that the Covid-19 vaccine is available for all residents in Missouri, the question has become….how old do you have to be to get vaccinated. Jefferson County Health Department Director Kelley Vollmar says the Moderna, and Phizer vaccines have a different minimum age.

Phizer is trying to get emergency authorization for a vaccine that would immunize children ages 12 to 15 by the end of the summer. Vollmar says the timeline will make it difficult when trying to give students their back-to-school vaccinations for things like tetanus, meningitis, and others.

There are additional Covid-19 vaccination clinics scheduled for this coming Tuesday, and Wednesday at the Festus location. Those interested in scheduling an appointment can visit the Jefferson County Health Department website at www.jeffcohealth.org/covid19-vaccine or call their registration line open Monday-Friday 9 am-5 pm at 636-789-8941.
