City of Herculaneum, 50 years of incorporation

(Herculaneum) Friday marks the 50-year anniversary the City of Herculaneum became officially incorporated.
Herculaneum Mayor Bill Haggard explains how the process of incorporating the town came about.
The idea to incorporate Herculaneum in the early 70s was met with opposition by many including the Jefferson County Court, prosecuting attorney and other state officials.
Finally after much protest the town was granted permission to incorporate.
In addition to Herculaneum, Arnold is also celebrating its 50th anniversary of incorporation this year.
According to Haggard they don’t have any celebration events scheduled at this time due to COVID-19; however, they hope to have some sort of celebration of the milestone in the future.
