Construction Update on Shepherd Mountain Bike Park in Ironton

(Ironton) There’s quite the buzz in the Arcadia Valley and the region for that matter as construction work is underway for a mountain bike park.

It will be called the Shepherd Mountain Bike Park and is located in Ironton.

A meeting, not open to the public, is set for Tuesday, August 18th at 1 at the Arcadia Valley Career Technology Building in Ironton.

Bob Lourwood, the mayor of Ironton, says this meeting is to get neighboring counties and their leaders on board with this project and what it could eventually become for the region.

Phase 1 of this new mountain bike park includes five gravity trails, one climbing trail, one shuttle trail, two city connector trails, two city connector shuttles, two mountain shuttles, a mountain pavilion and a city hub building all being built.

Phase 2 work will include additional gravity trails, cross-country trails, access to Shepherd Mountain Lake and inter-city trails.

Mayor Lourwood is looking for the Shepherd Mountain Bike Park in Ironton to open in the spring of 2021.
