COVID cases continue to decline in Jefferson County

(Jefferson County) The latest CDC week 6 health update is in for Jefferson County.

JCHD spokeswoman Brianne Zwiener says even though the county remains in red status for COVID cases, we are at a lower level in the red than previous weeks.

Of the 510 new cases reported in Week 4, close to 62 percent were unvaccinated, roughly 26 percent were fully vaccinated, and around 12 percent were fully vaccinated and boosted.

54 percent of Jefferson County residents have initiated COVID vaccination, while close to 50 percent have completed the full series.

Other than COVID cases declining, flu cases continue to decline as well.

On Wednesday, the JCHD reported 55 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the total number of positive cases to 52,278 since March of 2020.

The total number of active cases is 624, and there have been 473 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
