COVID Explosion

(Fredericktown) Since the start of the pandemic, the United States has recorded a total of 69 million cases of COVID-19. And according to Johns Hopkins University, one-quarter of them were diagnosed in the past month alone. Becky Hunt is the administrator of the Madison County Health Center in Fredericktown. She says they aren’t surprised by the news, which points out the importance of being vaccinated.

Officials report that nearly 18 million U.S. citizens have tested positive for COVID-19 from mid-December through mid-January. And of those 18 million cases, at least 74 percent have involved the Omicron variant. And experts add that because “at-home” testing kits have become more common, a number of positive results aren’t even being reported.
