(Crystal City) The Crystal City School District could become the next school district in Jefferson County to switch to a 4 day school week.

The school board of education will be taking public comments on the idea at Tuesday nights monthly meeting.

Crystal City schools Superintendent Dr. Steven Barnes says the district is looking at both the pros and cons to having a 4 day school week.

Dr. Barnes adds the extra day off would allow teachers to have more planning time.

Dr. Barnes is hopeful of having an approved 2020-2021 school calendar by January’s school board meeting.

Among other items on the school board agenda Tuesday night, the board of education plans on finalizing language for a bond issue planned to be on the April 2020 ballot.

Normally the school board of education meetings are held in the board room at Crystal City High School; however, with the expectation of a larger crowd to be in attendance, the meeting has been moved to the high school library.

The meeting is scheduled to get underway at 6 pm on Tuesday.
