Current Iron County Sheriff Defeated in Primary Election

(Ironton) There will be a new Iron County sheriff in 2021.
Unofficial numbers show Jeff Burkett winning the Republican, five-man primary race.
Burkett received 516 votes, defeating current Sheriff Roger Medley by 76 votes.
Ben Starnes finished 84 votes behind Burkett.
Burkett will now face independent candidate Herschel Shipman in November.
35-percent of Iron County registered voters cast their ballots Tuesday.
Even though Medicaid expansion passed in the state, it failed Iron County 1,306 to 988.
