Dennis Gannon Speaks On I-55 Project Groundbreaking

(HILLSBORO) A groundbreaking ceremony for the I-55 improvement project was held at the Herculaneum Fire House on Friday morning. Several state, county, and local leaders were in attendance for the official kick-off of a project that will take around three years to complete. Jefferson County Executive Dennis Gannon was one of those that were on hand. He says he remembers when this project was nothing more than an idea and a dream.

Some minor construction has already started in the Festus area and the project will eventually make its way north to Pevely and even to Barnhart with resurfacing. Motorists can expect possible delays, however, the two lanes will remain open with closures likely happening on the weekends or the overnight hours.
