DeSoto Amtrak station idea moving forward

(DeSoto) For the past few years, many in the DeSoto community have been working on the idea of placing an Amtrak train station in town. There was a previous station in the area several years ago but has been gone for some time. DeSoto resident Jim Thomas is one of the people trying to make this happen. He says after the pandemic slowed down the talks and discussions, things seem to be moving forward.

Thomas says DeSoto is a great location due to the city’s history with the railroads.

The proposed station would be handicapped-accessible. Now that the funding for construction is there, and the location has been identified, the next step is getting final approval from Amtrak themselves to move the project along further.
