(DeSoto) DeSoto junior cross country runner Lille Kaempfe placed 22nd at this year’s state cross country meet in Jefferson City, helping the Dragons place 4th for the first time in the school’s history.

Lillie is a first-time Dream Team runner and has progressed throughout her three times at the state meet, placing 74th as a freshman and 56th as a sophomore. She says her teammates’ support was huge to her improving.

Early on in her running career, Lillie relied on an older teammate to become a better runner and it eventually paid off for her and the team.

As for her personal accomplishment at state, finishing in the top 25 brought great joy and satisfaction to Kaempfe.

Lille Kaempfe’s accomplishments include 1st Team All-Conference, 1st Team All-District, and a personal record of 19 minutes and 54 seconds at the 5-K District Meet.

Outside of cross country, Lillie takes classes at Jefferson College, which means she will graduate with both her high school diploma and associates degree. Lillie is also a part of the DeSoto symphonic and marching band, student council, and the leadership council.
