(DESOTO) Wednesday on KJFF Sports Talk’s Jefferson County Athletic Director Summer Series, DeSoto AD Matt Deaton discussed particulars about the upcoming 2019-2020 sports season.

One particular was the buzz surrounding the Dragons football team, which will again be led by Chris Johnson.

Deaton also talked about how DeSoto High School gets down during Homecoming Week.

That big game will be Friday, October 4th at 7 p.m. against Fredericktown. Deaton then transitioned to talking about the softball team led by Chris Woelich, which lost to Hillsboro in the Class 3 District 2 championship game.

The conversation then switched to talking about the cross country program led by Aaron Young. With the girls finishing 4th at state and the boys finishing 4th in districts, the competitiveness of the two groups has intensified.

Deaton also addressed the completion of the state medalist wall for the wrestling program.

The DeSoto fall sports season will officially kick off with the football Dragons at home against Perryville on August 30th, followed by boys soccer on September 2nd against Christian Academy, volleyball on September 3rd against Bismarck, softball at home on September 3rd versus North County, and the DeSoto Kickoff Meet for cross country on September 6th.

The Jefferson County Athletic Director Summer Series continues Thursday on KJFF Sports Talk with Herculaneum AD Jonathon Roop at 4:30.
