DeSoto receives grant for splash pad

(DeSoto) The City of DeSoto was recently awarded a one-hundred-thousand-dollar grant for a splash pad to be built at the DeSoto Athletic Complex. The grant is from the Jefferson Foundation during its recently released list of grants totaling over 3-point-2 million dollars. DeSoto City Manager Todd Melkus says this is more than just a splash pad.

Melkus is hopeful the water feature will be ready near the end of the summer or early fall.

In other news with the DeSoto Athletic Complex, the city along with the DeSoto School District are planning to work together to add a field turf surface baseball and softball facility on the grounds as well. The DeSoto Athletic Complex is located on Vineland School road and near the DeSoto School campus.
